MeTV starting to edit episodes

This may have been going on before, but last night I noticed edits in the two episodes I watched from 7-8 pm. In "Father's day" they cut to the scene with Margaret in her Father's tent saying "So tell me all about your trip" without the first few lines of dialogue in the scene. Also in "Your Retention, Please" they cut to the scene where the recruitment officer is talking to Klinger at the table about staying in the army. They never showed him talking to Igor and Igor telling him to forget him re-enlisting and pointing out Klinger and telling the sergeant Klinger's story about his girl leaving him. Ok, I realize this has been standard practice on re-runs for years but it appeared MeTV usually did a good job of showing the episodes in their entirety. Now they are cutting corners I guess to sell more advertising. It's just disappointing to me to see certain things edited out of episodes.

MeTV has always made cuts to the shows they broadcast, it's just the cuts have been pretty minor compared to other broadcasters from years past. I remember a few years ago, they cut an entire dream sequence from an episode of THE ODD COUPLE.

Don't watch MASH on METV

but I do on TVLand. I've noticed TVLand changing some of the timeslots greater than 30 minutes to get more commercials in. You can get quite a bit done during commercial breaks.

METV has been editing for awhile now, TVLAND edits a LOT!! WGN has been showing mostly unedited for awhile now? Friday nights are the best! From like 7pm to Midnight is back to back MASH!! Sundance channel shows a lot of MASH too, but haven't had that channel in a few years! ;-)

What's funny is watching the MASH episodes on regular TV and then seeing the full episode on Netflix or something...it's almost like a totally new episode.

I've seen all the episodes so many times that it's noticeable when a station edits an episode in a different place. I saw a scene with Sidney talking with Klinger about being crazy that I hadn't seen in years the other day (so they cut the episode somewhere else). Can't recall which station it was on...MEtv, WGN or TVland.

cut episodes.

I don't remember what channel, or exactly when, but 20+ years ago a channel took "Welcome to Korea", and "Change of Command" into a 1 hour slot. It's been so long that I can't remember much of it, but basically it started with Hawk arriving from leave, heading to Kimpo, B.J meeting, a bit back at the 4077th, and then Potter came, with bits on Potter.

This, and all the other cuts, are why I have all 11 seasons on DVD, and the 3CD bonus set. I've seen more than a few cuts that make the episode not only unwatchable, but it also made points of episode that didn't make sense.

Yes, is called jump cuts, where one actor is peril one scene, then in the next scene is okay like nothing happened!
