What's the deal TV Land?

I do my channel flipping thing after work this evening and MASH is on TV Land. Naturally, I watched a couple of episodes.

May I assume that TV Land has added MASH again?

Yeah, they have, but who really cares? TV Land essentially alienated its audience countless years ago when they started removing classic shows from their lineup to put more focus into producing their own crappy original "sitcoms" that star has-been actors in too-raunchy-for-network-television situations.

Yes, that seems to be a natural progression for many of these channels - figure out what programming got you popular and change it. I'm not really sure why. MTV is my classic example of this; it used to be mostly music videos, with occasional music news features. AMC has done it. The History Channel has a bunch of shows that aren't really history-related at all, so I rarely watch it any more. Even HGTV has done it to some degree; at one time their lineup was largely made up of shows about stuff you might need to regularly do. Now mostly what I see is house-flipping or home improvements that run in the 5 or 6 figures or buying $500,000+ homes, none of which I'll probably ever do. Consequently, I don't watch it either.

I quit watching TV Land. My go to stations are Antenna TV and ME TV as they are always showing something i like to watch. I hope they keep to their formats of classic t.v.

I still watch TV Land...

...but not any of the aforementioned trashy TV Land sitcoms.

I've discovered a couple of local stations that aren't on my cable line-up but can be picked up with a digital antenna. I think one of them is called Retro and another is called Grit. They have some shows that I enjoy and some I'd never heard of.

By the way, I'm watching MASH on TV Land right now. The episode is Quo Vadis, Capt Chandler? I get to hear Radar's first name in a few minutes!

I just wish Antenna TV wouldn't show that "split screen". They have a good reason for doing it though. As more and more of these "retro-channels" pop up since they're becoming more and more popular; unfortunately the prices of these vintage shows are increasing and they have to do something to justify this expense. They considered a few options and this seems the best one.
