Some internet sleuthing seems to have finally put a name to the extra's face, as he has potentially been identified as Walter Smith. From what little I can read about him on the internet, it would seem that he has made something of a career for himself playing such background extras on several episodes of other shows such as CHEERS, MATLOCK, MURDER SHE WROTE, and various Lucille Ball shows.
Awesome find there! Would be so amazing to do a complete roster of all actors/characters from the 4077th some day! Maybe when I retire in a few more years.
