During the episode, it is established that Frank "ran away" as he was upset about losing command. Couldn't one argue technically that Frank was A.W.O.L.? And as such, shouldn't he have been punished? Hawkeye & B.J. knew he ran away as Margaret confessed this to them right after their first meeting with Potter. As much as they detested Burns, why didn't they try to get HIM in trouble?

There was no "technically" about it, he was AWOL. Hawkeye and BJ and Trapper weren't into tattling on people to get them into formal disciplinary processes. Although they typically wouldn't turn someone in, they would use the threat of turning someone in to get something they wanted.

Along the same line as getting someone in trouble... I think that it was in the first Dear Dad...how come Klinger wasn't court martialed for fighting with Burns? As by the book as Burns was, as soon as he woke up, he would've reported Klinger. There was a whole ward full of witnesses. And the MP knew something was going on. Sidenote: I'm amused with the following scene with the Father and Klinger with the grenade. I like watching the background actors running for cover when they notice that Klinger is holding a grenade.

That's something I never noticed before about the background players. I'll have to keep an eye out for that next time I watch!
